LOVE ceilidhs?  Then this one is for you!  On Saturday 14 February, 6.30 to 9.00 p.m. at Grange Methodist Church, Kents Bank Road, GRANGE-OVER-SANDS   LA11 7EY.  No need for tickets or advance booking but please make a donation to the church redevelopment fund - cash or card on the night, or online  here

All the dances will be taught by our brilliant caller, Dave.  So there's no need to know the steps already and everyone can join in.  It's great fun!

So please join the Sands Band and Dave for an enchanting evening.  See you there!

Marching on

Welcome March and the beginning of Spring! The month starts with St David's Day so we're marking it with a Welsh tune. It's called "Morfa'r frenhines" which we (not being fluent in the language) understood to mean "The Queen's march". That seemed odd as it's a waltz but it's a good tune and we like playing it.  But now we stand corrected.  Morfa doesn't mean march at all! A Welsh morfa is a saltmarsh, just like ours here in Grange. So maybe The Sands Band becomes Band Morfa if we travel south and over the border? Click on the video to hear the tune.

It's still Summer!

It's still Summer in Grange-over-Sands.  It must be, because the Sands Band is playing for a Summer Fair.  It's on Saturday 20 September at Bridge House Residential Home, Flookburgh, LA11 7JS and we are playing from 1.00 to 2.15 p.m.  Do come along and help us help them to raise money for a new Summer house.  You see?  If it's a Summer house it must still be Summer!  QED.

May song

Well, maybe we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves but we are really looking forward to playing springtime music at the Fell Church in Grange including - you've guessed it - the May Song!  We shall be there on Wednesday 7 May at 2.00 p.m.   Do come along if you can.  The Fell Church, 49 Grange Fell Road, GRANGE-OVER-SANDS   LA11 6AN.  Free admission! If you haven't visited the Fell Church before you are in for a treat.  It's a gem!  Discover its history and soak up the ambience as you listen to our spring programme.  There will be an opportunity afterwards, should you wish, to make a donation to the church.
